Keeping your garden growing

Our quality garden maintenance service covers virtually all garden related tasks.

Expert pruning

Our horticultural knowledge and experience provides the know-how to prune most shrubs, roses, climbers and trees (including fruit trees). Pruning is used for a number of reasons including: to encourage improved performance such as flowering and fruiting, opening up a congested shrub, removal of weak growth and dead or diseased stems, and for aesthetic reasons.

Weeding and general maintenance

Weeding can seem a mundane task but it takes a certain amount of skill to identify what is and what is not required in the borders. Weed control is a large part of keeping beds attractive and free of invasive species. We remove weeds by digging out the perennial deep rooted species or by gentle hoeing of the annual surface weeds. Where the soil condition allows we dig the borders thoroughly as we go. General maintenance involves keeping all areas tidied and includes sweeping and raking.

Mowing and strimming

We provide a mowing service as part of our regular maintenance programme, either weekly or fortnightly to suit your requirements. A rotary cylinder mower is our preferred equipment which has the benefit of adding stripes to your lawns - particularly desirable if in a formal setting. At the same time as mowing, all obstacles within the lawn are strimmed around for neatness.

We also find that some customers like to have intentional wild or meadow grass areas to provide some depth and variety as well as encouraging wildlife. We like to leave them as such until the correct time of year at which point we cut them back.

We also pride ourselves on laying or seeding top quality lawns.

Hedge cutting

This forms an integral part of our maintenance operations, either as part of a regular programme or on an annual basis. We cut the hedges at the correct time of year depending on species and to avoid the nesting season, using mechanical hedge cutters or by manual technique such as with these hand shears.

Compost management

If you have the space in your garden we really like to encourage a composting programme. There is great satisfaction in carrying out an annual mulch to the borders using organic matter generated from waste within your own garden. We can create a compost area such as this within a tucked away area. By filling the bin and turning at the right time, we can produce homemade mulch within a year.
